CYLTC 2020 Red Deer

Last weekend our province participated in the Canadian Youth Long Track Championship held in Red Deer.

A total of 13 skaters attended from Manitoba, 9 of these are fellow club skaters. Our club skaters alone brought back 10 individual medals, 1 overall title and 2 team pursuit medals. An incredible result for our club and our province.

Club skater Sofia really demonstrated how important is to get back up and complete a race after a fall:

“The highlight of the competition was our two Age Class Champions, Ethan Vandenberg and Sofia Bieber.  Ethan and Sofia both dominated the game in their own way and managed to come out on top.  Ethan won 3 Gold medals and one Silver, taking the overall title by a large margin. Sofia also won 3 Gold medals but had an unfortunate fall during the 7-lap mass start event where she finished 9th.  Had Sofia not gotten up right away and raced to the finish, but instead finished 14th or lower in the 7-lap event, she would not have won the overall title.  An important lesson to always finish your race no matter the circumstances!   Congratulations to both skaters on their incredible performances!”

Please help me congratulate them all when you see them around.

Have a great day everyone!
